Sunday...

Sunday starts about 12 p.m. for the most of youth but a lot of people get up early and go to "el rastro". El rastro is a street market that takes place every Sunday near the Bernesga river from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are lots of things cheaper than in a shop. You can find a lot of stuff from sock or make-up to food or plants.

El palacio de la salsa is a pub where you can listen to music and dance salsa, bachata, merengue,
reggaeton, hip-hop, dembow, kizomba, kuduro, vallenato, mambo, Moroccan music...
It opens every day from 11.00 p.m. to 4.30 a.m., it's specializing in Mojito and Caipirinha.
Every Sunday, you can have some Brazilian fried chicken for free with each drink. This fried
chicken it's a variation of the Dominican fried chicken called Pica Pollo.

Our city is not all about partying, you can enjoy doing a lot of thing, for example, if you like a
       sport you
have a lot of teams to go to see their matches.

For handball fans, we have got a team called Ademar de Leon, Ademar plays  in one of the best leagues of the world, Spanish League.Besides, it plays in Europe, Champions league against teams like Kiel ( the best handball team of the world).
Besides we have got a women’s team, CLEBA.

This man is Martin Stranovsky, one of the best playerf of Ademar.

But if you don’t like so much handball, you can go to see a match of Baloncesto Leon, they play in Adecco oro League ( Second division here in Spain, but we’re trying to promote to ACB, our “NBA”) .

This is the place where Baloncesto Leon, Ademar and Cleba plays

Here in Spain the most important sport is soccer, and also, we have an soccer team, La Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, this team, which has been  founded in 1923 and which has play in First Division, nowadays plays in Third Division, but I pray for returne to the place that we belong.

This is our stadium and...

Saturday’s night  in Leon it’s a big party like Friday's night, you go out if you have in your body a bit of energy.
In Leon we have pubs for all kind of people, for example, if you’re a teenager you can go to Maremagnum, if you’re older you’ve other places to go to drink something and be with a lot of people with the same age that you have.
If you’re so different that you don’t like typical party because you’re punk or you like heavy music you can go to some pubs like Skanner, Estigia or Heaven and Hell.
But if you have between 18-30 years and you want to enjoy a lot, I think that the best thing you can do is go to Humedo’s bars to eat one of our fantastic “tapas” and later you can have a good time in one of our pubs.
All pubs are located on Barrio Humedo.
The most well known pubs here in Leon are:

  • Caño Badillo: One of the most famous pubs here in Leon, in Caño Badillo you can meet “famous people”, when I say “famous people” I’m referring to contestants in some reality shows well known here in Spain; like Big Brother or Mujeres Hombres y Viceversa (this is a TV program to find a partner)

  •   Garden

    • Moloko ( the Pub for Filology students)

    • Gallery

The list of pubs it’s a bit more longer but it’s so hard to speak about all of them.

Other way to have a good time is going to a Studio’s 54 concert, sometimes there’re wonderful groups like Nach or Delahoja (Spanish rap groups) but not all in disco it’s rap,of course.

As you can see, you all will need enough energy to make it to the end of the day.
How long do you think you can last?

The weekend brings forward

After a hard week, the weekend  begins . In León,  the weekend begins the Thursday for all students of university. I’m sure that the Thursday is the favourite day of all university students because for many of them is the last day when they have class, but others aren’t so lucky.

Some Thursdays all the university go to the party called ‘’la espicha’’. This is the most famous party in the university and nobody wants to lose it.  Every faculty prepares its own ‘’espicha’’(espicha of medicine, espicha of filology, espicha of education…etc) Each faculty has one date to prepare its party.  For this, they put up ‘’la carpa’’, it’s a big place where the people can dance and drink without being cold, but many people prefer to stay outside.

This party begins around six o’clock in the evening, when all the students have finished their classes. Many of them, don’t go to home after classes, they go directly to ‘’la espicha’’ witch all the necessary:  the alcohol, something for dinner, a good winter coat and obviously have really want to enjoy and meet people.

After that, all people go to ‘’el  húmedo’’ where there are many pubs and the students go to dance till the body drops; maybe until 6 or 7 a.m or even later.

If you’re a funny students and you have really want to enjoy, I invite you to come to ‘’espichas’’; all students that have gone, they always want repeat.  I’ m sure that you won’t regret.

It's Friday!

A lot of young people spend Friday’s morning sleeping because of the Thursday’s espicha, even they’ve go to class.

Well, it’s Friday, we’ve just finished have lunch and now… what? What will be our plans today? Today it’s cold outside and it’s raining so first option is stay at home… Are we crazy??? NEXT OPTION PLEASE!
All right, let’s go for a walk!
We head for the city center thinking about to go to one of the two new malls and go shopping, go to the cinema, go for a drink or eat some international food. Maybe we can have a milk shake at Tommy Mel’s Classic Diner in the city center or drink a coffee, tea, a hot chocolate, ice creams, milk shakes… at Ékole café.

A tapas' example
Here in León, there is a tradition (exclusive from León until a few years ago): every time you go to a bar or café an appetizer is given to you with each drink you buy. A lot of people goes to the Húmedo area to have them. The appetizer it’s for free and it could be some olives, some nuts and dried fruit, bread with cured ham or Spanish sausage, Spanish omelet, fried potatoes with ali-oli sauce… there is a lot of kinds of appetizer, we call them tapas!

When young people has slept enough, it’s time to think in Friday’s night, have dinner and go out! Are we all ready? Let’s go to the Harley bar and get some rest at the chill-out room! Here you can lay on big sofas and have a great relaxing time getting some drink and talking with your friends in a very cozy atmosphere.

Here are a lot of clubs to go on Friday's night, we will talk about them on Saturday!
